Tango Sur

Things to know when planning a trip to this Argentine grill: You will wait for a table, and when it’s time to order, it’s best to keep it simple. Start with a plate of empanadas to share, then order a perfectly seared steak to dunk in the house chimichurri sauce and finish with the flan. Bring along that bottle of big red wine you’ve been holding on to, drink it with your slab of beef, sit outside on the sidewalk and enjoy the live Latin guitar—is life really always this sweet in Buenos Aires?

People have been telling me for years to try out Tango Sur and I'm so glad I finally listened. I heard that lines could get long so I went early - 6pm on a Friday night - and got seated immediately. We started with a few empanadas (beef was my favorite) and then ordered steaks - not realizing how large the portions were. I ordered El Filet (in the picture - sorry, the lighting didn't make for a good pic!) and LOVED IT. The steak was right on and the spinach mashed were great. Next time I go, I plan to order the same thing - but this time split with someone else. It was definitely enough food for two!

If you want a big 'ol steak, Tango Sur is a great bet. Their portions are huge, and their wine list is pretty great. Be warned, though: If huge hunks of Argentinian-style meat aren't your thing, then you probably should eat somewhere else.
