Korean food is all about the barbecue, so imagine our surprise when we realized that, here, the kalbi was taking a backseat. At Woo Chon, we’d gladly forgo it for the rich dolsot bibimbap (a fantastic version of the classic rice-egg-meat-veggie casserole), the seafood pancake or the doeji kimchi bokkum, (luscious slices of pork mixed with spicy kimchi). Then there’s the best surprise of all: the tofu soup, which gets props not just for its deep layers of flavors, but also for being free.
