[title]Which Chicago neighborhood is having the most sex? While we can’t peer into everyone’s windows to get the, ahem, hard data, we did employ some statistical know-how—with the help of Metro Chicago Information Center, a nonprofit research and consulting organization—to find out how 20 ’hoods stack up against each other when it comes to rolls in the hay. Our findings are based on rankings in nine categories: number of intimate apparel stores; number of sex shops; birth rate; number of waxing salons; percentage of OkCupid users who list casual sex as something they’re looking for; number of posts over a given week in Craigslist’s Casual Encounters section; number of members using Ashley Madison, a site designed to facilitate extramarital affairs; number of single people; and number of adult entertainment venues, which includes burlesque theaters and strip clubs. We took into account square mileage and total population of each neighborhood.
And the award goes to…Lakeview. Home to nearly ten adult shops and boasting more than 200 Casual Encounter posts on Craigslist from its residents in one week, the neighborhood consistently scored high in all categories. The ’hoods that tallied the lowest totals get the unenviable distinction of being the least sexy places to live. Sorry, Little Italy: Perhaps restaurateur Scott Harris could open a strip club on Taylor Street?
