Teresa Kirschbraun has lived in Logan Square for 25 years, and felt it always needed a bookstore. So she decided to open one! The indie bookshop sells new books, and also features an extensive children’s section and an area offering literature in Spanish. It also boasts quite an extensive roster of events–5 different book clubs, weekly author visits and story time every Saturday.

City Lit has a plethora of new releases, the staff is helpful but not sales-y, and the readings they have here are some of the city's best. Be forewarned though—shop here for new books only. If you want used, you're going to have to cross the square to Uncharted.
I love shopping in City Lit. I've actually had to limit the number of times I go in here per month because I will buy everything if not. It's a beautiful store with well thought out displays. It's inviting and friendly, not pushy or pretentious.
