This legendary used bookstore—one of Chicago's oldest and largest—stocks three floors' worth of books from floor to ceiling. Also, local poet Larry Sawyer has booked one of the best free poetry series in the Midwest here for years, and in Myopic’s top-floor space, the readings are even sunnier.

A Wicker Park mainstay, Myopic is like the platonic ideal of a used bookstore, with a helpful staff and tomes stacked to the ceiling on every level (and in charmingly specific categories). Stop in for a comforting whiff of old-book smell.

I always leave here with an armful of awesome books ranging a wide variety of topics and ideas! I also love the physical space, time just slips away every time I stop by

Best bookstore in the can find books that I didn't even know existed.

Best used bookstore I've ever been to and it's been a solid, main-stay in the neighborhood for decades. The staff is super friendly and supportive of local endeavors, books are fairly priced, and the selection is fantastic and well-maintained.

Tall bookshelves and mazes of books make Myopic such a lovely place to hang out. It's multi-level and stuffed with books, so go prepared to spend at least an hour or two getting lost in all the literature.

This labyrinth of a bookstore is just plain fun to shop in, if you like old books that is (I love old books). You can always find something great in here, whether you just need something quick and silly to take to the beach or something more challenging to get you through a long commute. No backpacks! No photos!
