When Melissa and Joseph Basilone moved to Portage Park in 2007 in the midst of the economic crisis, they knew the neighborhood needed a budget-friendly shop where residents could purchase gently used housewares, clothing, furniture, toys and more, at prices everyone could afford. Years later, Thrift & Thrive draws Chicagoans from all over who are hunting for a bargain. The shop is full of goods but very well-organized. It's clear the owners have a keen eye for detail. Between the selection and the prices, you can't leave here empty handed.

I live in the neighborhood and am giving this business a 5 star rating. Not only is there good finds, but the owners and ALL employees are friendly, know their inventory and are willing to work with you for a fair sale.
I've scored some amazing kitchenware, couches, and jewelry from here. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The owners also run a coffee shop across the street called Perkolator. I love grabbing an egg sandwich and tea before walking over to Thrift and Thrive to browse. It's the perfect Saturday morning. TIP: on Facebook they have a "furniture for sale" album, in addition to posting a featured item every day.
Great store! Clothing and furniture on the main floor with furniture and home decor in the basement. They also carry used books.
