Yes, TJ Maxx can be considered the very top of the bargain food chain, and the company's Michigan Avenue location is anything but ordinary. This immaculately organized Mag Mile outpost has an extensive "Runway" section, boasting only the cream of the crop of designer duds—on any given day you might find Diane von Furstenberg luggage, Thakoon silk tops or Celine handbags, at prices that are often 50% off.

If there's one thing I love, it's bargain deals. But this TJ Maxx pales in comparison to the TJ Maxx on State St, located 11 N State St, which let me return a pair of swimming trunks just an hour after I bought them because I found a better deal (and pattern!) at the nearby Target store. Go to this TJ Maxx location if you like picked-over merchandise, interesting smells in the changing rooms, and/or service on par with the usual TJ Maxx experience, but a less than lavishly-stocked impulse buying aisle when you wait in line for check out—if you even decide to buy anything, that is.
