In the mood for 'shrooms? Skip the big-box grocery store and shop the local, urban-grown selection at Windy City Mushroom, a Humboldt Park storefront devoted entirely to fungi. The folks behind the operation previously sold their product exclusively to local restaurants and chefs, but with their public-facing shop, neighbors and home cooks are able to browse a selection of hard-to-find 'shrooms. You've probably heard of oyster mushrooms (they've got those, too), but have you ever seen Lion's Mane? We'll give you a second to Google that.
The inventory changes on a daily basis, so be sure to reach out ahead of time if you're looking for something specific. (Just imagine what you could do with a pound of Black Pearl King Oysters!)
