Time Out says

Everything you need to know about visiting Soldier Field (1410 S Museum Campus Dr, Chicago IL 60605)

Home to the Chicago Bears, the city’s football stadium is where groups like the Rolling Stones and U2 play when the weather’s warm and they’d rather not be cooped up in the United Center. There are very few bad seats in the house, and despite the often difficult parking situation (we recommend taking the El to one of the two connecting buses, and there is also a shuttle service), the cool lakefront breeze makes concertgoing here a pleasant experience.

By the numbers

Soldier Field can hold approximately 61,500 fans, and the stadium we know and love today opened in 2003 after being constructed in just under two years. There are nearly 1,000 TV screens scattered throughout the stadium for views of just about everything happening on the field. Guests can also admire the 280-food granite Veteran's Memorial water wall, which honors American war veterans.

Our Chicago editorial team is constantly updating and reviewing the best attractions, activities and venues across the city, so that you're always in the know, with the best of Chicago at your fingertips. Chicago was most recently updated with new tips on June 28, 2017.

What’s on

Morgan Wallen

Country star Morgan Wallen is headed to Soldier Field on his "Still The Problem" tour. The Last Night and Whisley Glasses singer is playing Friday and Saturday night shows, both opened by Ella Langley, who is best known for her song Choosin' Texas.
  • Folk, country and blues

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran hits town this month as part of his LOOP tour at Soldier Field. He'll take the stage to perform hits like "The A Team" and "Shape of You." Myles Smith and Ellie Banke will open the show.

Foo Fighters

Time to start training for the ultimate rock 'n roll marathon: Foo Fighters are embarking on their first stadium tour since 2023's raucous Everything or Nothing At All tour. This 2026 jaunt will see the Foos at—praise be—maximum volume. Making this a true blue rock 'n roll free for all: Queens of the Stone Age and Mannequin Pussy will be rounding out the bill.

BTS

A genuine international sensation, BTS from South Korea has topped the Billboard charts, performed on Saturday Night Live (the first Korean act to do so) and embarked on world tours that have taken them to every corner of the globe. The music of BTS doesn't stray far from the contemporary pop melting pot of hip-hop, EDM and R&B influences, though the group's willingness to address depression and LGBTQ rights (taboo topics in South Korea) in their lyrics separates them from their peers. After headlining two sold-out nights at Soldier Field in 2019 and a cancelled tour stop in 2020, the group's ARIRANG Tour brings it back to Chicago's biggest stadium for two more performances this summer that are sure to be jam-packed with screaming fans. Tickets are sold out, but there are plenty of tickets on offer (for a hefty markup) through third-party services.
