This antiquated, cathedral-like building was once an annex to a neighboring mammoth church. Now it has several studio theaters and a large proscenium mainstage that play landlord to companies of all shapes and sizes, including dance and performance art. Many theaters also maintain office space in the building.

Beautiful antique building and mainstage. Varied and excellent programming. Great little bar and friendly staff.
This theater was great! All the seats, no matter where they are, have a good view of the stage. The theater was pleasantly smaller than most. It didn't feel overly crowded or cramped at all despite it being a full house. The parking is a bit of a drag, but once found, the evening was enjoyable. The theater is beautiful and all the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful historic venue with a helpful, friendly, and professional staff! My dance company has called the Athenaeum Theatre home for the past 5 years and we have made wonderful memories there! Having a bar reception area is always a plus!
