Melancholy Play: a chamber musical

Sarah Ruhl revisited her 2002 farce about a bank teller whose profound sadness infects those around her, working with composer Todd Almond to adapt it into a musical, which debuted in 2012 in a production by 13P in New York. Piven Theatre Workshop, with which Ruhl has a long association, stages the Chicago premiere, directed by Ruhl's longtime friend Polly Noonan; it stars Stephanie Stockstill, Chris Ballou, Ryan Lanning, Lauren Paris and Kelli Harrington.
