Bucktown Arts Fest
Bucktown Arts Fest

Founded by four neighborhood artists more than 30 years ago, the Bucktown Arts Festival has grown into a staple of the summer fest season. The main attraction is the juried art show, which features work by nearly 200 artists displayed in booths along the street. You'll also find music and poets performing on the event's two stages, food from local vendors and a procession of pooches at the Barktown Dog Parade (on Sunday, August 26 at 11:30am). It's free to attend and proceeds benefit arts and education programming at Holstein Park.

More of a big block party than your average festival, this is the best fest in the city. It's also run by volunteers and all the money goes to fund arts education in the neighborhood. The artists are unique - unlike some other fests who all show the same people - and are there to sell you their work. There are two stages - rock and jazz - and a great kids area, plus you never know what fun performance might pop up. We're lucky to have this one in the city and in the neighborhood.
