If you can't get enough of marionettes, you'll love the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival, which brings puppeteers from across the globe to the city for 11 days of symposiums, workshops and shows. Highlights of this year's lineup include the Indigenous peoples tale Ajijaak on Turtle Island (co-directed by Heather Henson), a dark story featuring life-sized puppets called Chambre Noire and the surreal French performance L’après-midi d’un foehn Version 1. Each event is individually ticketed, taking place at venues like the Art Institute of Chicago, Links Hall and the University of Chicago’s Logan Center for the Arts. A detailed schedule of shows and events can be found on the festival's website.
