Having captivated the rest of the world some time ago, electronic dance music fever has finally hit the U.S., and this summer it’s running hotter than ever. While many of the scene’s biggest stars hail from Europe, Kaskade is a hometown hit maker, having grown up right here in the northern Chicago ’burbs. His pumped-up house sound comes from a childhood listening to the music in its birthplace, but he’s refashioned it with the energy level needed for the seas of dancers he encounters nightly at festivals and mega clubs in Vegas and L.A.

Humble and supremely down to earth, Kaskade’s personality comes through in his music and his DJ sets, which forgo the madness and aggression of popular dance genres like electro and dubstep in favor of the smooth and soulful. Popular singles like “Eyes” and “Room for Happiness” from last year’s Fire & Ice inspire as much spontaneous singing along as they do unbridled dancing. I’ts euphoric music that’s going to make his headlining set at Perry’s Stage as much of a draw as anything Justice and Jack White are doing on the main stages.

Kaskade gets people moving on Sunday, August 5, from 8:45–10pm on Perry’s Stage.
