Mardi Gras brings street festivals, masquerades and lots of colorful beads to cities around the world, but the Adler Planetarium is taking the festivities one giant step forward to space. You’ll be transported to the Red Planet and experience firsthand what it would be like to live, work and play on Mars for the Planetarium's second annual Mars-Di Gras celebration. Some of the festivities, which are free with museum admission, include a Red Plant Race thorugh a martian obstacle course, a chance to program a rover to move around Mars and a Mars-Di Gras parade with the Brassworks jazz band.
