Atlas radler

With the opening of Vice District, Motor Row and Baderbräu, the South Loop is quickly becoming a popular destination for craft beer lovers. The Motor Row Craft Beer & Wine Festival seeks to capitalize on this trend, sampling beverages from a selection of Midwest breweries and wineries in the historic South Side district. Admission is free, but a tasting session each day offers 15 samples for $35.

Ugh, save your money. There is a $5 mandatory donation just to get in. After my husband and I paid $10 for the privilege of walking around some food vendors, he bought one tasting ticket for himself. I cannot drink that much beer, so I was just going to get a glass of wine and accompany him around. The "tasting area" is sectioned off and only ticket holders can enter. We returned to the booth to ask why I couldn't just walk around with him, and had to wait for a supervisor. Another couple was at the booth asking the same question. She told us there was no way to guarantee I wouldn't "drink his beers and get free beer." You pay for 15 TASTING TICKETS and GET A WRISTBAND, so there is no way I could ostensibly be ripping off the festival of 2 oz samples.

She told us, rudely, that we were SOL and could not get a refund. After I raised my voice a bit, she finally relented. Enjoy your $10 donation, you scam artists.
