Cover girl Brooke Finneke, 26, is a rough-and-tumble linebacker for the Chicago Bliss, the local squad of the newly formed Lingerie Football League, which kicks off its season September 4. She’s also a member of local law enforcement (and has a bf), fellas, so don’t mess with her. After our cover shoot, Finneke tackled a few questions.

A 7-on-7 football game starring lingerie-clad women. Isn’t the LFL just high-contact burlesque? Less dancing, more running.

What’s the LFL locker-room scene like? There’s a lot of makeup, a lot of hair spray and a lot of tape—for our wrists and other parts, too. [Laughs] We have to keep our lingerie uniforms in place, so there’s a lot of double-sided tape. It’s a big concern that the uniform is going to be ripped off. That’s something I’m trying to avoid, but there’s a chance it could happen.

The LFL audience will be glad to hear that. Do you think the league’s target audience is the same type that go to car races for the accidents? In this case, the nipple slips. There are some men who are going just for that reason. But we’re out there to prove we’re athletes versus just girls wearing lingerie.
