[title]What do (500) Days of Summer, 90210 and One Tree Hill have in common? Besides being chick magnets, each has featured the Temper Trap’s runaway hit “Sweet Disposition.” It propelled the Aussie indie band out from Down Under and onto the charts in the U.K. and Europe. Fueled by the piercing falsetto of lead singer Dougy Mandangi, Temper Trap holds U2 as a key influence and isn’t shy about letting it come through in its music. Sweeping in its scope, the quintet wraps up Radiohead’s lush fullness with the dominant guitar textures and post-punk pop sensibility of the Edge and Bono.
The result is rock music that’s easy on the ears and tough not to like. As of this year, the band is back with a self-titled sophomore album that sees it settle even deeper into its sound. Lead single “Need Your Love” will surely reignite fans with its manic energy, while cuts like “Trembling Hands” and “Miracles” will not only remind fans why they first fell in love with the Temper Trap, they’ll make new ones out of a lot of you.
