With just ten more regular-season games remaining, it looks as if the Hawks are a lock for the NHL playoffs (which begin April 15) for the first time since the 2001–02 season. Season-ticket holders will get first dibs, but a limited number of tickets will be made available to the general public. Visit chicagoblackhawks.com for more info once seedings are set. Craigslist and eBay also will surely have tickets—at a premium. TicketExchange is the team’s sanctioned secondary market; you might still pay through the nose, but your seat is guaranteed—an assurance eBay and Craigslist can’t deliver.

When you’re heading to the rink, it’s best to leave the driving to the CTA.

•TRAIN Blue Line to Medical Center. Head out the Damen Avenue exit, walk four blocks north.
•BUS The 19 United Center Express (which picks up strap-hangers from Michigan & Chicago, Michigan & Illinois and Michigan & Randolph before heading west on Madison; stops are made on Madison at Wabash, State, Wells and at Clinton), 20 Madison and 50 Damen bus lines will drop you off steps from the doors of the United Center.
