The 8th Casanova Festival will take place in Vrsar this weekend. Subtitled 'Love and Erotic Festival', the event is in honour of famous lover Giacomo Casanova, who had connections with the Istrian town.
All manner of events will run over the amorous weekend, including literature evenings, theatre shows and lectures. There will be food, drink, music - and for those looking to get thoroughly involved, there's even a kissing competition.
Casanova visited Vrsar twice - in 1743 and 1744. The pretty town - typical of Istria - is known for its good food and drink and its sumptuous atmosphere, making it the perfect setting for the romantic event.
The festival will be held this year from 24-25th June 2016.
