If music and parks are your favourite things, you’re in for a treat: Biljke I Svirke is a special pop up event taking place in the Zagreb Botanical Garden. The title translates as Plants and Music – which gives a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Over the next couple of weekends – the 11/12 June and 18/19 June – the botanical garden will become an al-fresco concert hall. Professional musicians and students from the Zagreb Music Academy will perform amid the flowers, playing works by Mozart, Bach, Debussy, Frank Sinatra and the Beatles.

The Botanical Garden is one of Zagreb’s most alluring attractions, and the music is bound to sound all the sweeter strolling through its cultivated lawns. And if you find yourself especially inspired, you’ll have a chance to try and discover your inner musician – visitors will be encouraged to have a go on the pianos, violins and saxophones. The delightful event is completely free, and opens from 11am – 7pm.
