Cres island’s nicest hotel, the small three-star Golden Lion, is set above the bay of Martinšćica, a tiny seaside village that boasts a fine gravel beach. The hotel offers five larger suites and 25 doubles with air-conditioning and showers. The pricier rooms have their own balconies and sea views. The restaurant, serving seafood, lamb and brick-oven pizza, is handy in this small settlement with limited amenities. There’s also a bar. All in all, nothing too fancy, but all the basic comforts in a secluded seaside paradise.
Cres island only has two full-sized hotels: Kimen in Cres town and Zlatni Lav in Martinšćica. Find free flats, rooms or campsites through the Cres Tourist Office.
