Imogen Recordings: Rainer Trüby

Imogen is a Zagreb-based record label run by local DJ talents Ilija Rudman and Antonio Žuža. In the last 12 months, the crew have held parties in a dizzying number of different locations including Maksimir Park, The Garden Brewery and Opera club, with venues chosen especially to suit the occasion, vibe and guest DJ. By such actions and others (such as the use of their own, warm club soundsystem), it's obvious to tell that this is one of those rare parties at which the number of tickets sold is far from the main priority. They have one of the best lists of past guest DJs of any party in Croatia, those invited usually being attached to longstanding record labels or they hold a recognised reputation as experienced DJs. Their last party celebrated Imogen's fifth birthday and this edition is their final party of 2019. Special guest at this session is Rainer Trüby, a sometime record label head who is now into the third decade of his career. His Root Down club night in Freiburg is almost as old. Expect midtempo Balearic numbers and contemporary jazz dance to start off, if Rainer hits the decks early enough and let's hope he does - as a series collector well versed in soul, boogie, jazz, funk, disco, Bossanova, drum n' bass and broken beats, Rainer Trüby is by far at his best when he's not forced into playing house music all night. Held in the small and atmospheric Podmornica mini-club, located on the first floor at club Katran, this could be a very special night indeed.
