Tucked away in the heights above the Dalmatian coast south of Split, Gornji Dolac is overlooked all year round except by the 107 people who live there – and except in December.

Alongside, locals set up the Gornji Dolac Christmas Village, Božićno selo Gornji Dolac, an entire mini community themed around Yuletide. Named Best Family Attraction by the American company Corporate Livewire, this fairytale village comprises animals, culinary Christmas treats and more than three million lights that make the hillside glow.

PIXSELL photographer Zvonimir Barisin was able to capture the magic thanks to his expert work with drone imagery.
