Local grill masters BBQ HOT YARD won the top award at this year’s Zagreb Burger Festival, which ran for 11 days through mid-September. At the open-air event, street-food fans could choose from some 50 burgers to select the tastiest and most inventive.
Overseen by well-known food blogger Davor Šušković, BBQ HOT YARD fused Asian flavours within the traditional burger composition to come up with the Kimchi Kardashian, among other creations. Burgers were also assessed on their presentation and photogenic appeal.
Second prize went to last year’s winners, Food Bar Guloso from Dubrovnik. Their burgers were inspired by the characters created by Shakespeare-era playwright Marin Držić, whose statue stands near this popular food outlet in the Old Town.
