After receiving an honorary award at the Sarajevo Film Festival, Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen professed a weakness for a Chardonnay produced at the Saints Hills winery on Pelješac. Introduced to the label named after his scheming character in the 2006 Bond film, Casino Royale, the Copenhagen-born actor declared he had to visit the winery to try it there and then!

A huge hit on the US market, Saint Hills winery’s Le Chiffre has completely sold out of its 2020 vintage, which is only available at top restaurants around Croatia with select wine lists. This exceptional variety ages for a year or more in barrique barrels made of French oak, and then for another six months in the bottle.

Famed for its wine and shellfish, Pelješac recently made the news after the unveiling of a bridge connecting this peninsula to the mainland, allowing for easy access from either Split or nearby Dubrovnik.
