In figures just released by the Croatian National Tourist Board, valid until the end of July, ten percent more tourists have visited Croatia compared to the first seven months of 2022.

Numbers were particularly impressive for Zagreb and Continental Croatia, the northern hinterland so often overlooked for the coast.

Looking at purely overnight stays, the most sought-after destinations have been Rovinj, Dubrovnik, Poreč, Umag and Split, meaning that Istria has again proved to be popular this year, along with the main two resorts in Dalmatia. Germans topped the visitor figures by nationality, followed by domestic tourism, then Slovenians.

The numbers also compare favourably to the record levels seen in 2019, meaning that Croatia has managed to bounce back from the pandemic years. The aim now is to attract people all year round, rather than just during peak season.
