An exhibition of images by award-winning photographer Vjekoslav Skledar has just opened at the Galerija Kranjčar at Kaptol in Zagreb. Titled Ja sam snaga (‘I Am Strong’), the show focuses on ten women and their individual battles with breast cancer.

Each one has a different story to tell, and each adds to an overall picture of courage and fortitude. By showing these women in this way – without hair due to the chemotherapy treatment – Skledar hopes to destigmatise how they look and promote the activities of the Croatian association Nismo same, ‘We Are Not Alone’.

The exhibition runs until April 20 and admission is free.

Galerija Kranjčar, Kaptol 26. Open Mon-Fri 11am-7pm, Sat 11am-2pm.
