Croatia equal their best footballing achievement at 1998's World Cup on its anniversary!

Croatia takes on England tonight at 8 pm in the World Cup semi-final. Whatever the outcome of tonight's game, this Croatian football team have equalled the country's best-ever position in the competition. 

Aiming to secure a place in the World Cup final, tonight's game occurs on the anniversary of Croatia's greatest footballing triumph. Exactly 20 years ago to the day, on 11 July 1998, Croatia beat the Netherlands at the World Cup in France, attaining third place overall in the competition.


The current president of the Croatian Football Federation, Davor Šuker and his teammate Robert Prosinečki scored the goals that night, marking Croatia as a dangerous future opponent in future international competitions in what was their first year at the World Cup.
