Croatia’s main port city of Rijeka has pushed the boat out for Advent this year. Trsat Castle overlooking town and the main street of Korzo have been dressed in 12km of lights, nearly half a million in total, to transform this recent European Capital of Culture.
A stroll along the pedestrianised Korzo is also accompanied by seasonal music, while nearby Trg Ivana Koblera is where you find Rijeka’s traditional Advent wreath.
Up in Trsat, the historic castle welcomes visitors every day until 9pm, with illuminated models on display of the legendary Trsat Lady and the Votive Crown. Elsewhere, families can visit Santa’s House for a photo with the man himself and a free Christmas card.
