The most important international wine festival yet organised in Croatia for those in the industry, the Vinotrade Acrobat Portfolio Tasting (VAPT) attracted the biggest names to the Hotel Kvarner on Opatija Riviera.
Now being staged for the second time, VAPT welcomed the heads of Louis Roederer, Barolo and Vega Sicilia, to name but a few, to present their wines in person.
Special tastings were also held for Louis Latour, López de Heredia and Castello di Ama, among many others.
The event provided the perfect occasion for Liburnia Hotels & Villas to showcase the attractions of the historic Hotel Kvarner, the first hotel to be built along the Adriatic coast in 1884. Its Crystal Hall is the largest and most ornate space of its kind in the elegant Habsburg resort of Opatija.
The hosts laid on a spread of delicious local delicacies, such as Kvarner Bay prawns prepared buzara-style, and Camelia cake prepared with figs, almonds, carob, raisins, oranges, marzipan and chocolate.
Some guests were also accommodated at the five-star Hotel Ambasador, recently completely renovated, with its own private beach and high-end restaurant, La Fourchette D’Or.
