A green getaway between Zagreb and the Slovenian border, the region of Zagorje has just been included among a selection of favourite discoveries of 2023 by travel writers at the The Guardian newspaper.
Acclaimed novelist Mary Novakovich, interviewed by Time Out Croatia for her recent book My Family and Other Enemies, praised Zagorje’s hilltop castles, thermal spas and boutique wineries.
