This superbly located newbie sits by the entrance of Buža II, and quickly went to number one on TripAdvisor in its very first season. Here you can tuck into a reasonably priced, Med-and-Asian-influenced main here – fragrant meatballs in a chicken-coconut broth, perhaps, or Adriatic prawn pouches on grilled aubergine in a red-curry-and-coconut sauce – before an afternoon's sunbathing or nightcap overlooking the waves. Starters include mussels in beer butter and chili, and Dalmatian tom yum soup.

Venue name: Azur

A newbie to Dubrovnik's food scene, we were excited when we saw Azur's Mediterranean/Asian fusion menu (which makes a refreshing change to two weeks of traditional Konobas!)

Clearly very popular, we were lucky to get an outdoor table down one of the quieter alleyways that wasn't already reserved. We were met with friendly service and a compact, but inventive range of dishes to choose from. I asked if the Chicken and Chorizo taco entrée could be made into a main course serving, which they happily accommodated. Great flavours and generous toppings made it a tasty dish, though the tacos were unexpectedly a bit too thick for me. My dinnermates ordered the Vietnamese Rice Noodle Salad (instagrammable, tasty and Gluten-free,) Meatballs in Curry Sauce (fragrant Thai-style curry,) and the Dubrovnik Vegetarian Curry (my favourite dish!)

With most entrees costing between 50-80 kuna, and mains from 85-150, Azur sits mid-range amongst the city's food offering, but I thought it was great value – buzzing atmosphere, beautiful presentation, and more inventive than some of the others. Also conveniently placed right by the entrance of one of the famous Buza Bars for an after-dinner drink!

I'm hungry again just thinking about it...
