Barba (‘uncle’, ‘old man’ or ‘captain’) is a street-food fish restaurant based on a healthy concept. Here healthy, Mediterranean food is quickly prepared and thrown together in imaginative combinations: octopus sandwiches with mascarpone, marinated anchovies with cuttlefish salad and nectarines, shrimps with rocket and parmesan… You’ll also find pasta with tuna and artichokes, and mussels and fava beans. Barba is always fast, warm-hearted and brimming with great ideas.

Probably the only hipster bar in Dubrovnik, but as much as I wanted to explore various eateries during my week stay in King’s Landing, somehow I’d always end up there as it was so good. The place is small and cute, with charming staff that not only will recommend you food, but also the best beaches known only to locals. The menu is not super extensive, but everything is fresh and tasty. The octopus burger was exceptional and all the seafood I tried, including fried oysters were flavoursome. Don’t forget to try their lovely ‘Barba’ IPA, it complements great all the food. And if you feel arty, you can add a personalised wooden fork to the collection.
