Open all year round, this intimate, traditional konoba near the main square does nothing revolutionary but what it does do – lamb shashliks, grilled squids, more fish choice than most – it does well. Certainly, the kitchen seems to know how much garlic and oil to add where necessary. There are a couple of children's choices on the menu, plus enticing desserts such as pear in red wine, and hot bananas. Starters include Croatian cheeses and lesser-found offerings such as lobster carpaccio.

Venue name: Dundo Maroje

Just off the main street of Dubrovnik Old Town you will find many 'Konoba', each claiming to be the most authentic and the best.  Whilst I am unsure if Dundo Maroje is either of those things, I can confirm it is a good value restaurant that offers up delicious meals.  The grilled squid was delicious. The service was quick and friendly.  Very enjoyable and great to be slightly away from the crowds!
