Good Food's arrival was noticed by the whole of Zagreb thanks to their prominent placement on Nikole Tesle ulica. This original is now one of three in the city. Freshly-made salad options were then a new addition to the city's fast food menu. Most Zagreb fast food, good though it is, perhaps didn't look so healthy.
Truth be told, the healthy options are still what GoodFood excels at. Big bowls of salad come in steak, chicken and tuna options, the Arabic themed one with falafel, bulgar wheat, lettuce, rocket, cucumber and cherry tomatoes.
Salad ingredients are placed in a bowl and prepared right in front of you, ensuring maximum freshness; the lettuce, cheese and bacon of the caesar salad are sliced together with a mezzaluna before caesar dressing is added, with chicken, cherry tomatoes and croutons then placed atop.
Croissants with ham and cheese or smoked salmon with chive cream cheese and lettuce, like the ciabattas, are made with nice bakery products. In the tortilla menu there's a vegan option with tofu, roasted peppers, roasted zucchini, red cabbage, tomato and veggie yoghurt, and in the toasted sandwiches there's a gluten free BLT.
Look out for their recommendations, marked by a green tick on the menu. They're an honest reflection of what's best to get, including the coleslaw salad, its shredded cabbage, carrot, celery and mayonnaise tempered with the addition of sour cream. Burgers and fries may disappoint; portions are small and the very poor quality of beef makes for an underwhelming and bland experience.
Join the casual daters, mates, backpackers and solo diners on the high seats inside, although try to get one by the window as it can be hot in here. Or, just get your salad to go and eat it in Zrinjevac park, just three minutes walk away
