Joze's friendly Tavern is central but slightly off the beaten track – head out of the Golden Gate, over the park and Sredmanuška opposite, up a slight incline. They've been serving up splendid local food at reasonable prices for over 30 years here. After a tasty starter of Dalmatian ham or one of seven soups, choose your fish from the tray of the day's catch, prepared simply but satisfyingly, or tuck into one of the excellent game dishes as you observe adjacent street life from the terrace, or relax in the homely interior downstairs.
