Editor's note: Marianno is closed with no immediate plans to reopen.

Unveiled in November 2016 beside the Park Hotel overlooking Lapad Bay, Marianno feels as fresh as its bright, contemporary decor suggests. Finely presented on stark white plates, local- ly sourced hake, squid, veal and lamb are adventurously paired with seasonal vegetables and inventive flavourings. The menu, pleasingly extensive given the exquisitely conceived dishes, features lesser-known ingredients such as myrtle, vine leaves and endives. Your grilled beef- steak has been marinated in celery salt, gravy and myrtle, your Adriatic squid fried in lemon crumbs. Sides include baked dandelion with orange and roast beet with Pernod. As for the desserts, well... that’s dried fig compote in prosecco and rosemary lemon cream giving zing to the carob cake and amaretto semifreddo. Wines are of similar local provenance, Korčula, Pelješac and Konavle. Service does justice to the whole shebang and prices are, all quality considered, eminently reasonable. Actor Jamie Foxx liked it so much, he ate here twice during the recent filming of Robin Hood.
