One of inland Istria’s most lauded konobas, Puli Pineta (‘chez Pino’) delivers exactly what everyone expects from Istrian cuisine, traditional home food cooked simply but with a little bit of love. Traditional cuts of pan-fried or grilled beef, lamb and pork join home-made sausages and fat succulent fuži on a menu that strictly limits itself to what’s fresh and local – we may be only 20 minutes’ drive from the coast but if you want seafood, you have to order it in advance. Puli Pineta’s interior dominated by old-school sideboard and traditional hearth is as homely as they come.
