Advent on Riva

The ocean-hugging Riva promenade, studded with palm trees and swish cafes and eateries, is given a festive makeover. Wooden huts snake along the harbour, selling a range of hand-made crafts, quirky souvenirs and hearty Croatian food. A prominent satellite in Split’s Advent proceedings, holidaymakers and locals mill around happily together around the centrepiece stage, featuring local greats, classical musicians and Christmassy concerts. For something extra special, try and catch a performance of traditional ‘klapa’ – a form of A cappella music local to Dalmatia.
