Welsh post-hardcore veterans Funeral for a Friend have announced they are to split up - but not before embarking on a final tour where they will be playing their first two albums in full in Glasgow.

Formed in the early noughties, Funeral for a Friend released two EPs ‘Between Order and Model’ and ‘Four Ways to Scream Your Name’ before their first full-length album ‘Casually Dressed and Deep in Conversation’ in 2003.

This was followed by 2005’s ‘Hours’ and these early releases are said to have inspired countless groups that followed them.

For their final run of shows, they’ll be playing their first two albums in full on concurrent dates in each city for the ‘Last Chance to Dance Tour’ – starting with ‘Hours’.

Vocalist Matthew Davies-Kreye explains why they’ve chosen to end their careers focusing on their maiden two releases.

'For me it seemed obvious to go out with both "Hours" and "Casually Dressed..." I feel that both those records distill what Funeral is to a whole load of people more definitively than just piecing together a set from all the records we've made,’ he says.

'It seems to me that those are the records that matter most and "Hours" to me is my proudest achievement in music with Funeral,' he adds.

Funeral for a Friend, ‘Last Chance to Dance’, Monday April 11 and Wednesday April 13, The Garage. Tickets on sale September 18 at 10am.
