A UK premiere will open the first Scottish Queer International Film Festival next month.

Swedish John Waters-inspired musical action sci-fi horror comedy ‘Dyke Hard’ will launch the event at the CCA on September 24.

The film follows a failed lesbian rock group trying to revive their fortunes by travelling to a battle of the bands competition in the city. On their journey they run into cyborgs, ghosts, roller derby girls, ninjas and an evil billionaire who all attempt to thwart their travels.

Director Bitte Andersson and the cast will introduce the film, with a Q&A and an opening party featuring DJ Sycophantasy to follow the screening. The intro and post-film event will be BSL interpreted, as will all Q&As and workshops at the festival, and tickets for 'Dyke Hard' are on sale now.

Scottish Queer International Film Festival will take place at venues across the city including CCA, Glasgow Women’s Library and Drygate. The full programme will be announced later this month.
