February is not going out without a fight, it seems - its final week kicks off with a triple-header of musical greatness, finishes off with a street food showdown and manages to cram a week of film festivity and assorted other joys in between.

Glasgow Film Festival, various venues, until Sun Mar 1
The closing week of the GFF feature,s of course, a tonne of great films - so many, in fact, they deserved their own dedicated preview. Events-wise, we're psyched about the further instalments of the Cat Video Festival, Paul Merton's Buster Keaton Night, A live gig from 'Broadchurch' composer Olafur Arnalds, and a Rab Florence gaming double bill: discussion event Children of Film: Video Games and the big, big screen party of Rab’s Video Game Empty at the IMAX.

Father John Misty, King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, Mon Feb 23
Former Fleet Foxes drummer J Tillman (pictured above) has ditched the earnest folk harmonies of that group for a more sardonic blues/country approach. We like it a lot.

Kate Tempest, Stereo, Mon Feb 23
The Mercury-nominated poet, musician and playwright shares her talents with the Glasgow massive.

Death From Above 1979, O2 ABC, Mon Feb 23
Canadian duo Death From Above 1979 reunited in 2011 after splitting in 2006. They’re back to tear dance punk another new one, with only their second album in all ‘The Physical World’.

The Effect, Tron Theatre, Tue Feb 24-Sat Feb 28
Playwright Lucy Prebble (who also penned TV's 'Diary of a Call Girl') is behind this unconventional love story (just a smidge too late for Valentine's) about two strangers who meet during the testing stages of a new drug.

Pure Radio Sex: A Subcity Radio Exhibition, The Art School, Wed Feb 25-Sat Feb 28
As part of their 20th birthday celebrations, Glasgow Uni's peerless Subcity Radio station is hosting an exhibition of 'rave paraphernalia, curated soundbites, and relics from the station’s long and sordid history'. Not only that, but the opening party (it's Subcity - of course there's an opening party) features sets from Jonnie Wilkes (Optimo) and Subcity residents Build + Destroy and Nova Waves.

Catch Me Daddy, selected release from Fri Feb 27
A 'pitiless story that feels fresh and immediate', this gripping British thriller focuses on British-Asian Laila (Sameena Jabeen Ahmed) and white Scottish Aaron (Conor McCarron), two young people hiding from threatening figures who pursue them relentlessly.

Gazelle Twin, The Art School, Fri 27 Feb
'Industrial pop' is a genre tag that seems to fit right in with The Art School's left-of-field club programming aesthetic. Brightonian producer/composer Elizabeth Bernholz, aka Gazelle Twin, does it better than most.

Pressure, The Arches, Fri Feb 27
For the second Pressure of 2015, Slam are joined by Hotflush founder Scuba – in his Pressure debut – as well as a live set from Paul Ritch, Luke Slater from Planetary Assault Systems, Perc Trax founder Perc and the Animal Farm DJs.

Southside Street Food Showdown, Glad Café, Fri Feb 27-Sat Feb 28
The fourth Street Food Showdown features a four-course face-off between reigning champs Babu Bombay Street Kitchen and challengers Beep Beep Tuk Tuk Street Eats – all you have to do is scoff the lot and vote for a winner.
