It goes without saying that the most important factor to consider when reviewing a restaurant should be its food. But sometimes, you discover that rare eatery you feel compelled to recommend for its ambience alone. That’s not to say that the fare at Borgo is subpar – yet the most memorable aspect of a meal here is the spacious feel of this high-ceilinged venue. The playful décor and glass walls complement the eclectic menu and offer plenty to look at as you settle in for a leisurely breakfast or brunch. After dark, the tables are reconfigured in rows and illuminated by candlelight to set the scene for birthday celebrations and group dinners.
The prices are quite reasonable for a place like Borgo, where just about everything from the lasagna dough to the ketchup and mayonnaise is made in-house. Pizzas from the wood-fired oven range from 20-28 TL, while the star of the menu, the Cretan-style meatballs served with oven-roasted potatoes and a sauce of stewed tomatoes, cost 28 TL. If you’re only visiting Borgo for cocktails, try the veggie chips as a snack. Brunch lovers also won’t want to miss the Saturday and Sunday affair (from 08.00 to 15.00) accompanied by live music
