If you are into Turkish food or want to try out new flavours, here is some good news. There’s a new Turkish spot in the neighbourhood, and it’s already creating a buzz among Johannesburg’s foodies.
Pera Turkish Restaurant officially opened its doors in Rosebank over the weekend, following weeks of anticipation after it was first teased earlier in February.
The new addition to Joburg’s dining scene is halal-certified, Muslim-owned, and celebrates traditional Turkish cuisine with a modern twist.
Diners can expect popular dishes like Korba, a well-loved Turkish soup often enjoyed as a starter, mezzes, and Turkish breads. It also serves kibbehs, falafels, Iskender kebab and Beyti Sarma. Desserts include cold baklava and cheesecake.
Beyond the food, Pera offers a social dining experience with its dedicated hookah lounge, where guests can unwind over shisha or sip on refreshing Turkish mocktails.
The space combines contemporary design with Turkish-inspired décor, creating a vibrant atmosphere perfect for both casual outings and special occasions.
With its Turkish grill and elevated shisha experience, Pera is set to give foodies something new to rave about. The restaurant joins a growing list of exciting new openings that continue to shape Johannesburg’s ever-evolving culinary scene.
Some of the recently opened restaurants include Grubhouse in Edenvale and Akti in Bassonia. Scooters Pizza also opened earlier this year in Rosebank.
La Salud opened in Sandton in November. Last October, the Piatto restaurant opened in Kyalami Corner, while Cyra opened in 2024.
So, if you are on the lookout for the next vibey food spot, these restaurants might just be worth exploring.
