Travis Scott takes over Joburg — expect major road closures around FNB Stadium

Here’s everything you need to know before heading to FNB Stadium this weekend.

Get ready, Joburg, Travis Scott is bringing his Circus Maximus World Tour to FNB Stadium this Saturday, 11 October 2025, and it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest live music events of the year. But with great hype comes great traffic, and the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has issued an important traffic advisory ahead of the show.

What to expect

The concert kicks off at 8:30 pm and wraps up around 11:00 pm. However, fans are expected to start arriving early, with gates opening at 4:00 pm, and early arrivals are anticipated from 9:00 am. The JMPD is encouraging Hospitality and VIP ticket holders to arrive well in advance to avoid congestion closer to showtime.

@jmpd55 TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 06 October 2025 TRAVIS SCOTT CIRCUS MAXIMUS WORLD TOUR CONCERT AT FNB STADIUM, NASREC, JOHANNESBURG The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) wishes to inform the public about traffic disruptions expected around the FNB Stadium Precinct due to the Travis Scott Circus Maximus World Tour Concert taking place on Saturday, 11 October, 2025. The concert is expected to start at 8:30 PM (20:30) and end at approximately 11:00 PM (23:00) Early arrivals will be expected from 09:00 and Gates will open at 16:00. ​All Hospitality and VIP ticket holders are strongly encouraged to arrive early to ensure smooth access and avoid potential traffic delays closer to the start of the show. Road Closures: The JMPD will implement full road closures starting at 11:00 AM to manage traffic flow around the FNB Stadium. Please note the following affected roads: - Soweto Highway - Golden Highway - Nasrec Road - Booysens Reserve Road Specific Road Closure Details: - Golden Highway: Closed between the Corner of Golden Highway, Ring 1, and Soweto Highway. Only authorised vehicles will be allowed access. - Nasrec Road: Closed between Recreation Road and Shaft 17 Road. Access to pre-paid parking is available at Recreation Road. - Soweto Highway: Closed between Mentz Street and the N1 Offramp. - Booysens Reserve Road: Closed between Crownwood Road and League Avenue. Transportation Options: To enhance your travel experience, we recommend the following options: - Park and Ride: This option is highly encouraged for stress-free travel. Secure, undercover parking and return transport are available at several points, including: - Sandton City - Melrose Arch - Centurion Mall - Montecasino - Clearwater Mall - Cresta Shopping Centre - Greenstone Shopping Centre - Mall of Africa - Menlyn Park - East Rand Mall - The Glen Shopping Centre - Gold Reef City Casino - The Grove Mall - Gautrain: Trains and buses will operate with increased frequency to accommodate concert-goers from Park Station to FNB and back to Park Station. - E-hailing & Drop & Go: A designated drop-off area for ride-sharing services will be available. Residents are encouraged to be aware of traffic management for the day so they can plan their travel routes accordingly. We further urge residents to exercise patience before, during, and after the concert, especially after the concert when traffic congestion may be significant. Road closures

To maintain control of traffic, full road closures will commence at 11:00 am around the FNB Stadium precinct. Affected routes include:

  • Soweto Highway (between Mentz Street and the N1 Offramp)
  • Golden Highway (between the Corner of Golden Highway, Ring 1, and Soweto Highway)
  • Nasrec Road (between Recreation Road and Shaft 17 Road, access allowed for pre-paid parking only)
  • Booysens Reserve Road (between Crownwood Road and League Avenue)

Only authorised vehicles will have access to the closed zones, so plan your route carefully if you’re heading anywhere near Nasrec.

How to get there

To keep things smooth, the JMPD is encouraging fans to ditch the solo drive and use Park and Ride, Gautrain, or ride-share drop-off zones.

Park and Ride hubs will operate from convenient points, including:

  • Sandton City,
  • Melrose Arch,
  • Montecasino,
  • Centurion Mall,
  • Clearwater Mall,
  • Cresta Shopping Centre,
  • Greenstone,
  • Mall of Africa,
  • Menlyn Park,
  • East Rand Mall,
  • The Glen,
  • Gold Reef City,
  • and The Grove Mall.

The Gautrain will also run extended services between Park Station and FNB Stadium to help move the crowds efficiently.

A few tips before you go

  • Leave early: Traffic will start to build up long before 11:00 am.
  • Pre-book your parking or Park & Ride to skip the queues.
  • Use e-hailing or carpooling if possible.
  • Be patient: JMPD expects heavy congestion after the show ends.

Whether you’re there for Sicko Mode or Fe!n, make sure your night runs as smoothly as the beats. And remember, plan your route, arrive early, and stay safe while Joburg turns up for Travis Scott’s epic return.
