Now rated as a two-star hotel, this former pensão remains one of the best bargains in the Baixa. Rooms are simple and comfortable, and some have been renovated in the past year; the more expensive ones have private bathrooms with showers. Try to avoid those along Rua Augusta, which can be noisy; the rest are fairly quiet. You can even order a basic continental breakfast in bed. The hotel has no bar, but you can buy chilled soft drinks at reception. There’s a charge for Wi-Fi.
