This popular place has chosen to go down the alo- jamento local route to keep prices low, meaning it still offers some of the best value in the area. Service is good and the atmosphere friendly. The rooms – each painted a different colour during a recent refurbishment – are large with decent views of the square and the ruins of the Carmo church on the hillside; some have a balcony too. Not all rooms have a shower and barely half have their own toilet, but all offer free Wi-Fi and TV.
