The success of Luanda has drawn other African enterprises to Alcântara, where techno once reigned. The club attracts a young, laid-back crowd for kizomba and zouk on Friday and Saturday nights; Thursday is ladies' night. Things can get heavy later on in the evening, when the doormen can be edgy.
