Hidden in a Santa Catarina alleyway - a location where parking is harder to find than a spot to lay your towel in summer Sundays at Carcavelos beach - the Fumeiro stoically resists any temptation to change its core values: at least one ingredient per dish must be smoked. Try the chicken (smoked in a whisky vat), the smoked salmon with lemongrass or the excellent beef rib sandwich. The smoked-everything might seem like a gimmicky concept, but, as far a gimmicks go, it's a pretty good one.
